Inspection Services

The NDT (Non-destructive testing) is a widely used inspection solution for numerous types of industries in the plant operations, manufacturing, construction, and other engineering sectors. Which is a branch of engineering concerned with methods of detecting and evaluating flaws in the materials. The NDT produces no damaging effects on the material or structure under test and assists with guaranteeing safe operation, quality control, and assessing plant life.

Defects or Flaws may present as cracks or inclusions in welds and castings or variations in structural properties—all of which have the potential to lead to loss of strength or failure in service. There are many different types of Non-Destructive Testing methods available, each of which has both advantages and disadvantages.

SubDivo Inspection Services Division provides competent inspectors with the capability to choose the right method to solve the inspection or testing challenge any industrial project might face. Our innovative approach makes be sure of both safe operation and improved quality while reducing overall cost. Conventional Non-Destructive Testing Methods

UT – Ultrasonic Testing

The UT – Ultrasonic Testing includes the following Services;

  • Metal Thickness Survey
  • UT Flaw Detection Survey
  • A-Scan Survey
  • Class Surveys of Vessels, Ships, Jack-up Rigs, Etc.
  • Corrosion mapping

Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Evaluates external flaws, wall thickness, and detection of internal flaws. This NDT Method uses high-frequency sound waves to measure the material thickness and detect surface and subsurface flaws. UT is often used to locate manufacturing defects in welds and castings, complete corrosion and erosion monitoring, and support large-scale corrosion mapping.

UT is a portable and quantitative inspection method offering flexible inspection variations including Straight Beam and Angle Beam. Specialist NDT variation of UT is Phased Array and Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD). The success of UT requires a clean surface so that couplant can be applied between the probe and the surface to enable the required sound transmission. SubDivo Inspection Service Division makes sure competent inspectors are assigned and along with right equipment for the task to be undertaken. Our strategy of assigning Rope Access Capable UT Inspectors for the task saves execution time of the project.

MT - Magnetic Particle Testing

The MT – Magnetic Particle Testing includes the following Services;

  • Weld Inspection
  • Rack Teeth Integrity Survey
  • Drilling Equipment Integrity Survey

The NDT Method of MT detects the surface and near-surface cracks in ferrous material. Surface and subsurface discontinuities in ferrous materials can lead to machinery and production shutdowns but are often not easy to spot in time.

MT requires the application of a magnetic field using a permanent magnet or electromagnet around the inspection. Following magnetization, the inspection area is covered with a ferrous oxide particle detection medium, that is either dry or suspended in a liquid. Flaws distort the magnetic field, causing local magnetic flux leakage that attracts the detection medium and indicating the presence of a flaw.

AUT – Automated Ultrasonic Testing

The Automated Ultrasonic testing – AUT can be deployed to the following Services;

  • Vessels/Tanks: Large Structure Inspection
  • Time of Flight Diffraction – ToFD
  • Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing – PAUT

Automated Ultrasonic inspection offers many benefits to our client base and is utilized on capital projects, maintenance inspection, turnaround scheduling/planning, and shutdown/turnaround/ outage situations.

Some of the factors that we consider when recommending the appropriate ultrasonic technology are the anticipated damage mechanism, operating condition of the asset, ability to access the area in question and the proximity of trade involvement to the inspection area.

PAUT - Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing

The PAUT – Phased Array UT can be used for the following Services;

  • As an alternative to RT – Radiography Testing
  • Weld Inspection
  • Rolling Stock Inspection

Phased array ultrasonic systems utilize multi-element probes, which are individually excited under computer control. By exciting each element in a controlled manner, a focused beam of ultrasound can be generated. The software enables the beam to be steered. Two and three-dimensional views can be generated showing the sizes and locations of any flaws detected.

ToFD - Time-of-flight Diffraction Method

The ToFD – Time of Flight Detraction inspection method includes the following Services;

  • Weld testing
  • Pipeline welds

Although time-of-flight diffraction (TOFD) can be used for a variety of applications, its primary use is rapid weld testing of circumferential and axial weld seams, also known as perpendicular TOFD scanning.

LRUT – Long Range Ultrasonic Testing

Long range ultrasonic testing is a rapid way of screening for corrosion in pipelines. The method enables screening of up to 100 meters of pipeline in one test, i.e. 50 meters in both directions.

MFL – Magnetic Flux Leakage Inspection

Magnetic flux leakage (MFL) is an electromagnetic non-destructive testing technique used to detect corrosion and pitting

MFL uses a powerful magnet to magnetize the conductive material under test (usually steel). Where there are defects — corrosion or material loss — the magnetic field “leaks” from the steel.

MFL probes incorporate a magnetic detector placed between the poles of the magnet where it can detect the leakage field. During the inspection, a magnetic circuit of sorts forms between the part and the probe. The magnetic field induced in the part saturates it until it can no longer hold any more flux. The flux overflows and leaks out of the pipe wall and strategically placed sensors can accurately measure the three-dimensional vector of the leakage field.

Because magnetic flux leakage is a vector and that a sensor can only measure one direction, any given probe must have three sensors to accurately measure the axial, radial, and circumferential components of an MFL signal.
